Heat Safety Tips
Several Women’s Final Four fan events take place outdoors. Fans are encouraged to check the local forecast, dress comfortably, and plan accordingly for sun exposure and warmer daytime temperatures.
Hydrate early and often: Drink water throughout the day – don’t wait until you’re thirsty. If you are outdoors, the CDC recommends drinking 8 ounces of water every 15-20 minutes. Add electrolytes to balance your fluids. Complimentary water stations with cups will be available at select outdoor events, and bottled water will be available for purchase at all event locations.
Sunscreen is essential: Use SPF 30+, apply 15 minutes before going outside, and reapply every two hours.
Dress for the weather: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, light‑colored clothing and a wide‑brim hat.
Limit caffeine and alcohol: Caffeine and alcohol can cause dehydration. It is important to limit or avoid using these products during the heat.
Check your medications: Check with your doctor to see if your prescription or over-the-counter medication can impact you in the heat.
